Fractional CFO in Southern CaliforniaMore Than 25 Years of Turning Numbers Into Decisions

Robert Dennis, fractional CFO in Southern California

Robert Dennis is the finance leader companies bring in when the stakes are high: a crisis that stops revenue overnight, investors who have lost confidence in the numbers, a business preparing for sale or a team that has outgrown its systems.

Today he brings that experience to owners of growing businesses and private equity portfolio companies as a fractional CFO. He builds the cash forecasts, dashboards and reporting that show leaders exactly where the business stands, so they can act with confidence.

Where That Experience Comes From

  • CFO through a crisis. As CFO of a private equity-backed digital media and technology company, Robert guided the business through the COVID-19 shutdowns and protected its cash position. He restructured its private debt, rebuilt investor confidence with new controls and a 13-week cash forecast and prepared the company for sale.
  • Scaling a fast-growing company. As acting CFO of a privately held technology company, he rebuilt the finance function to keep pace with rapid growth. He rolled out new dashboards and planning tools and cut credit card chargebacks by a third.
  • Global finance at scale. As VP of Corporate Accounting at a major internet and social media company, he led a team of more than 30 people across 21 countries in Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific. He oversaw treasury, payroll, internal controls and international reporting.
  • Turnarounds for owners and investors. As an independent advisor, he rebuilt the accounting and finance function of a private equity-owned dental services organization. He also served as strategic advisor to the CEO of a family-owned distribution company, leading its growth strategy and recruiting its board of directors.
  • A Big Four foundation. Robert spent 13 years in Big Four public accounting in Los Angeles, Paris and Moscow. He led audits of multinational public companies and supported IPOs on the U.S. and London stock exchanges.

What That Means for Your Business

  • You see your cash position every week, not months after the fact.
  • Your reporting is built to the standard banks, investors and buyers expect.
  • Decisions are made on live data in Excel and Power BI, not on gut feel.
